Sensitive editing for academic and scholarly writing.

Because your ideas are important.

Helping You Publish with Confidence.

Hi! I’m Ayesha and I specialise in sensitive editing of academic and scholarly writing.

Your ideas. Your research. Your voice. Their journey to words on paper or a screen is important to you. As it should be. It is why you let yourself trust your project manager, editor, proofreader, indexer, designer, publisher to nurture your ideas into a well-received publication.

That those words are clear and engaging is important to your readers. As it should be. It is why the audience trusts their favourite author, researcher, storyteller, journalist to be true to themselves and their writing.

So, Where Do I Come In?

As a professional editor, I’m foremost sensitive to what you and your readers value. This means I can help to get your text ready to be shared more widely, ready to be published. I listen. I filter noise, or ensure the decibel is just right for the space. (Yes, sometimes you need a boombox; at other times, a headset or silencer!) Collaboratively and with care. Because words, too, are important.

I ensure clarity, consistency and accuracy as best possible. So that your words express well what you want to say.

“Ayesha acted as copyeditor for [the IPGRC] conference proceedings that encompassed 19 papers written mostly by non-native English speakers. As editor of the proceedings, I highly recommend her as she is an excellent copyeditor. The quality of her work was thorough, her organisation exceptional and her communication with authors and my team and I was clear and precise. It was a pleasure working with her and I am planning to engage her again in the future.”

Dr Tanja Poppelreuter, Director of Postgraduate Research Studies, School of Science, Engineering and Environment, University of Salford, Manchester, UK

“We really appreciate your editing of our working paper: it was precise and methodical, without impacting on our voice or point of view. It’s been a pleasure and I look forward to working together again.”

A. Vivoli, University of Florence, co-author of study on trade, employment and gender in Ethiopia

“It has been such a pleasure working with you – it’s rare to find someone who is simultaneously excellent at their work and so friendly! Thank you for that.”

Marlies Piek, Department of Economics, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa, co-author of study on employment effects and agricultural minimum wages

“When I completed the first draft of my PhD thesis, on my supervisor’s suggestion I decided to get professional editing help, mainly because English is not my first language. It was a pleasure to work with Ayesha Chari, and I learned and took forward a lot from this process to the rest of my academic career. With respect and sensitivity to my own voice and writing, Ayesha didn’t just help me identify spelling and grammar mistakes, she also guided me in turning my thesis manuscript into a book ready for publication. I couldn’t have done it without her expert services.”

Christina Papagiannouli, research fellow and author of since published Political Cyberformance: The Etheatre Project (2016)

“Ayesha did a fantastic job editing our IBDP Economics content, striking the ideal balance of being thorough yet efficient and handling the complexities of editing a live digital product with ease. She was professional, friendly and a real pleasure to work with.”

Alice Kelly, Content Delivery Lead, Kognity, Sweden

Say Hello!

I’m friendly but shy, and often introverted, but I’m not a tech-bot. And I like meeting other worldviews and experiences. Do say hello!
